Experience

I am a current college student, and I began my studies at Gateway Community College and the University of Connecticut. I plan to further my studies and obtain both my bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Bridgeport next year. I am an experienced tutor, and I have also been the leader of a Girl Scout troop for several years. I enjoy tutoring an array of subjects, but my specialties are math and SAT preparation. I find that these two subjects are often the ones that students find intimidating, and I like to show students that they are not as difficult as they may believe. The stigma surrounding the subjects often leads to unneeded anxiety. I especially like helping students with depression, anxiety, and ADD learn tips for the SAT. I also tutor elementary and middle school science, as well as high school, middle school, and elementary school English and math. I have a very simple tutoring philosophy. I like to first learn what I can about a student, and then teach them what they need to learn. I give my students my full attention when tutoring, and I remind myself that they are the most important person in the room. I am a very patient tutor, because having children has taught me how important patience really is. In my free time, I enjoy teaching craft classes in libraries and making my own crafts. I also love spending time with my dog, and I am dedicated to recycling.
